Gardens By The Bay, Singapore

26th January 2013 – Gardens By The Bay, Singapore

It is another interesting place to visit at night because of its lighting at night. It is located near the Bayfront MRT and adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. Of course more details about this area can be found from the Internet. Let me show you some of the pictures took from this beautiful park. By the way, there is no admission fee except if you wish to walk the skyway.

DukTour Singapore

26th January 2013 – Singapore. I went to Singapore with my uncle to visit his daughter’s new house. I called my beloved Singapore colleagues for outing too. It was a planned trip because we bought the DukTour package with entrance to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest in the Garden By The Bay.

We started our day with DukTour which brought us touring the city via land and river. This is the duo engines transportation that took us for the city tour.

The first landmark we passed by is the Singapore Flyer (Wheel of Fortune). I searched in the Internet for its name and bumped into an article which shared the Feng Shui story of this wheel. It said, it was revolving in the wrong direction and taking fortune away from Singapore. After being consulted by a number of Feng Shui masters, the management fixed it with a 6-figure sum to bring in good qi (energy) into Singapore.

The second landmark that caught my eyes with such a beautiful skyline was Marina Bay Sands.

Visit Singapore is never completed without visiting Esplanade and Merlion. A lot of tourists like to come here and take pictures here. The Esplanade at night with lights on is another splendid view.

If you’re thirsty, stop by Merlion and have a drink. Another tourist spot where a lot of people will hang around here for pictures and nice view over Singapore River.

The Marina Bay Sands view from the Singapore River. There is a laser show at night. Do check it out if you are interested.

Not far from Marina Bay Sands, our boat passed by Flower Dome. The picture was taken from the Singapore River. I visited this Flower Dome shortly after this DukTour and it is worthy to pay a visit and walk at the Garden By The Bay at night. The view is splendid.

Phetchaburi, Bangkok, Thailand

22nd Mar 2013 – Bangkok, Thailand. After walking and shopping  for whole evening at the bazaar street along the shopping areas in Platinum Mall we headed back to hotel for a rest. After a while, we went down to the a foot massage shop located next to the hotel for an experience of Thai foot massage. It was really relaxing moment especially after walking for a day.

After the an-hour foot massage, we headed to this mobile stall located next to the 7-11 convenient shop, along the same road of my hotel, Bangkok City Hotel, to buy supper. It sells the Bangkok style of roti prata. It has banana flavour as well.

The person who made the roti prata came from India. We have a short chat with him while waiting for our roti prata to be ready. We kept reminded him to put less oil and less sugar into it. And also, less condensed milk! Even so, it still looks quite oily to me. Eat it while it is still hot. The taste was just right, because we asked less for everything sugary. It gave generous amount of banana too.

Chinatown, Bangkok, Thailand

22nd Mar 2013 – Chinatown, Bangkok, Thailand

After a journey to Wat Arun and Wat Pho, we went to Chinatown via the same  boat service. We stopped at the N5 – Ratchawong Pier.  Upon reached, we did not really know the direction to Chinatown. So, we walked along the way and explored the place. It is a very busy area here and there are many shops selling in wholesale. We walked and shopped around until we realised we were finally at Chinatown.

We walked for quite long until we found a place to sit down and have our lunch. It was around 2.00 PM. We did not go for any famous or recommended shops or restaurants for lunch. We tried the local stalls for true local food. We stopped at this shop which is located in front of a 7-11 convenient shop.

Since, this was the first stall we saw in this area, without hesitate we ordered our food. I tried their mixed keow teow and meehon tomyam soup noodle. I was a little surprise that the soup based was not really tomyam. It looked like she put the chilli powder and oils to make it looked alike and did not taste as tomyam. 😦

After finished eating, we continued our shopping hunt. Along the way, we stopped by and bought a glutinous rice dumping to eat.  We went through a lot of little streets and shops to see things to buy. Overall, the stuffs sells here are cheap and if you buy in large quantities, it is always cheaper. After 1 hour later, we headed back to the pier to take the boat back to Saphan Taksin Pier to head back to hotel for a good rest.
